VISITOR CENTRES

 

The visitor centres are spread out across the municipalities covered by the Park and constitute the point of contact with the natural, historical and cultural aspects which characterise the protected area. Conceived as the start of a journey within the protected area, each Centre deals with its various key aspects, albeit differentiated by the distinctive features of each individual municipality.

The Park authority’s head office, located in a perfect panoramic position overlooking the Musi mountain range and the Canin Massif, houses a modern visitor centre, the offices and a guest rooms.The displays reproduce the different natural environments (river, woodland scrub, grassland and mountain) enhanced by geological finds, an audiovisual room, and a model of the protected area.

On the northern slopes of the Plauris Mountain Massiv, for over a century, the geological aspects of the territory have been an important reference for all the activities of the whole community. The Resartico Mines have been for a long time one of the main sources of income of the inhabitants of Resiutta. The activity of the extraction, together with several ruins and galleries carved in the mountains give a lot of precious information, which was collected by the NaturePark and now shown in the Resartico Mine Exhibition organized in the former school in Resiutta.

The numerous panels, show photos illustrating the activities that were developed in the mine, the difficult working conditions, the history of the research and the geological and natural aspects of the area. .

Particularly interesting is the rebuilding in life-size of one part of the gallery with a truck used for the mine materials transport.

You can observe samples of rocks, particularly the bituminous schist used as the tools for extraction, and different equipment used by the miners. The exhibition is complete with a model of the protected area that represents the valley, the galleries and the layers, and a computer presentation of all the documentation collected during the research.

INFORMATION CENTER -  FORESTERIA AI CICLAMINI

The Information Centre stands at the foot of the imposing Musi mountain range and is set in one of the most evocative Friulian valleys – the Alta Val Torre.

The permanent exhibition “Forests, Man, Economy in Friuli Venezia Giulia”, on display in Udine at the Friulian Museum of Natural History in 1986-87, has now been expanded and remounted at the Museum of the Venzone region (Palazzo Orgnani Martina). The exhibition constitutes an educational journey across one of the most complex ecosystems: the Forest.

Mounted in three rooms and comprising models and dioramas, it illustrates the history of forests and forest ecosystems, the fauna that live within them and the function and uses of trees.

Saturday: 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. From may to october: sunday 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.

EXHIBITION ON SPELEOLOGY AND KARSTIFICATION OF THE CANIN

The Canin Massif area is one of the most sought-after international destinations for speleologists and researchers in the field due to its specificities linked to the karst phenomena and its caves (more than 1,000).

The exhibition, mounted next door to the tourist information office in Sella Nevea, houses stone and concretionary samples as well as materials and equipment used in speleological activities, providing students with a realistic picture of the area’s geological varieties. It also contains a large-scale model reproducing a significant section of the Canin area and its subterranean world.
