The Julian Prealps Nature Park was set up in 1996 and is extended in an area of about 100 km 2 . It comprises territories in the municipality of Chiusaforte, Lusevera, Moggio Udinese, Resia, Resiutta and Venzone in the Province of Udine. The Nature Park includes the highest parts of M. Plauris (m 1958), of M. Musi (m 1869) and of M. Canin (m 2587) and lower levels (or altitudes) in the area of the village Povici in Resiutta and the valley Valle del Torrente Mea in Lusevera.
The specificity of this area, due to the contact of three different biogeographic areas: Mediterranean, Illyrian and Alpine one, have caused an extraordinary biodiversity.
